Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on an ancient philosophy that describes the universe, and the body, in terms of two opposing forces: yin and yang. When these forces are in balance, the body is healthy. Energy, called "qi" (pronounced "chee") flows along specific pathways, called meridians or channels, throughout the body. This constant flow of energy keeps the yin and yang forces balanced. However, if the flow of energy gets blocked, excesses in energy build up on one side and deficiencies can happen on the opposing sides; Similar to water in a river getting stuck behind a dam, the disruption can lead to pain, lack of function, or illness. Acupuncture can release blocked qi in the body and stimulate function, evoking the body’s natural healing response through various physiological systems. Modern research has demonstrated acupuncture’s effects on the nervous system, endocrine and immune systems, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. By stimulating the body’s various systems, acupuncture can help to resolve pain, and improve sleep, digestive function, and sense of well-being.

Alexia Bennetts (Lexie) was first treated with acupuncture and Chinese medicine in her early 20’s (over 25 years ago) for sinus and menstrual problems. She had seen western medicine doctors for these ailments, was given the usual pain medications, and was told some of these issues were just genetic and not likely to change much. After a couple months of treatment with Chinese medicine, she felt better than ever and knew this was a medicine she wanted to learn more about.

In 1999 she earned a diploma in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in Colorado. Lexie especially enjoys treating pain, women’s issues, digestive problems, and sinus/allergy conditions. She collaborates with other physicians and healthcare providers to promote each patients unique balance for health. She believes that in order to heal the mind, body, and spirit a combination of approaches and gentle care usually work best. Lexie combines east with the west with degrees in Oriental Medicine and Biology, along with experience from EAS, a sport nutrition supplement company. This diverse background, along with having more than 2,500 hours of eastern medicine training, gives Lexie a well-rounded foundation in health, nutrition, and fitness. During her years of practice, Lexie has maintained and advanced her skills and knowledge, as a current member of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and by taking continuing education classes.

She consistently treats her patients at Calm Spirit Acupuncture with gentleness, empathy and professionalism. Chinese Medicine recognizes good health includes balancing the mental, spiritual and physical aspects in one’s life. This is accomplished using a variety of “tools” including educating the client in diet, lifestyle choices and preventative strategies; acupuncture; herbal remedies; manual massage-like techniques to restore health. Lexie genuinely listens to her patients and creates treatment plans that will fit their health and healing needs and understands that wellness is achieved with healing the root causes and the branch symptoms.

Lexie is grateful to her clients for the success of the practice, noting “the main source of referrals is word-of-mouth from our happy and loyal clients.”

Ask Lexie about her four boys and she will tell you how much she enjoys living each day to the fullest with her very active, happy and healthy family.

I am a longtime massage therapist (since 2002) currently working on my graduate degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. While I specialize in several styles from East to West, my passion is learning to specialize in human beings, honing in on the specific needs of each individual I meet and touch. I enjoy working to resolve acute or chronic tension and pain with techniques utilizing Deep Tissue and Trigger Point release as well as more gentle and subtle approaches gleaned from my knowledge of the acupuncture meridians and the energetics of the body.

For me, healing is an art; one that includes science yet expands beyond it.

I’m also an acrylic pour artist. When I’m not studying or working (or making art!) I love getting into nature, practicing stillness, hanging out with my best friend who is also my husband and my new best friend- my Aussie Doodle puppy!

Hello my name is Eva. I have been a therapist in Colorado since May 2016 and I have loved every moment of it. I’d like to tell you a little about myself and my massage style. I graduated from the Denver School of Massage Therapy in 2016. I have been trained in many modalities, and I enjoy providing a variety of techniques in my sessions. My main concern during our session is your comfort. I strive to meet the needs and requests of all of my clients. In a majority of sessions, I do my best to maintain balance in between deeper and relaxing techniques. Clients often enjoy my methods of working out knots and tension, while still providing a relaxing experience. This is usually considered a firm Swedish massage. I can and will, adjust upon your request and the responses I get from your muscles. I also tend to incorporate reflexology, basic cranial, and particular sports techniques for those stubborn muscles. It’s important to consider massage therapy as part of your health routine. Everyone can benefit from massage rather they are looking to just relax from everyday life or relieving that pain that just won’t go away. During my sessions, we will discuss any ailments or concerns that you have. Afterwards, I will recommend what I believe will be an appropriate approach to getting you back to a healthy, comfortable place. As this is a team effort your feedback is needed and together we will build a treatment plan based on the stresses that we find within your muscles. Please keep in mind, knots, tension, and scar tissue did not form overnight, and will take more than one massage session, to fully work out and relive. I will also send you home with some self care technique to assist in your healing. I hope to see you soon and hope you enjoy your experience.
